El-Wedad in cooperation with the University College organizes an open day for the occasion of International Children’s Day

As part of the International Children’s Day and World Orphan Day  ,El-Wedad society for Community Rehabilitation, in cooperation with the University College of Applied Sciences, organized an open day during the 18th Palestine Festival for Childhood and Education, entitled “A Smile That Doesn’t Vanish”. The event was implemented in the presence of a large number of children participating from Nour Al- Marifa association, Al-Zaitoon school, and Al- Basma model Kindergarten.

      The festival, which was hold on the University College, had various recreational activities, individual and group games, and puppet theater which aimed at conveying educational messages to promote the children’s positive behaviors.

      Ms. Hadeel Sbita, Head of the Counseling and Psychosocial Support Unit at El-Wedad Society, stressed the need for continuous implementation of children’s activities aiming to support the rights of the Palestinian children and provide them with a friendly environment and a decent and secure life.

      It is worth mentioning that the Counseling and Psychological Support Unit at El-Wedad performs several psychological and community activities for different groups in the society, especially children, in order to reduce their psychological and social problems.

El-Wedad to hold a meeting with 34 women (Strategies to deal with the pressures of life)

 The Counseling and Psychosocial Support Unit at El- Wedad Society for Community Rehabilitation conducted a training and awareness meeting for mothers.  It was held on Al-Huda Elementary Kindergarten, entitled “Strategies for Dealing with Life Stresses”, and presented to 34 mothers of the Kindergarten children.

     The meeting identified the several types and forms of the life’s pressures and it discussed appropriate solutions to some of the children’s daily life’s behaviors. It also urged them to adopt the emotional and mental method to decompress such pressures.

     For her part, Ms. Hadeel Sabita highlighted the importance of the meeting to the parents considering it as a significant mean of acquiring information and skills in dealing with the various situations and life stresses faced by mothers during their interaction with their children. Also, it helped them to pay attention to the effects resulting from such interactions reflected upon the family in general and the children in particular.

Psychosocial Support and counseling Unit in El-Wedad Society carries out an activity entitled:” For You”


Within the activities of the International Women’s Day, the psychosocial support and counseling unit organized an activity entitled ” For You”. This activity aimedat promoting the women’s right of expressing their views and supporting their rights in the society.

For instance, a group of trainees, female university students, participated in the activityby expressing their opinions and ideas that support women’s rights by writing mural phrases that reinforce the role and rights of women in the society.

In his turn, Mr. Ibrahim Al-Tom, the coordinator of the Women and Children Program at El-Wedad Association stressed on the importance of the woman’s role in the society and that she is one of its pillars of success adding that her role should not be limited to neithertime nor place.

It is worth mentioning that the psychological and counseling unit of the association organizes several events specialized for women and children in the framework of its continuous support to the society.


WSCR Holds a Workshop on “Determining the Needs and Priorities of Working Children”

Within the framework of the Women and Children’s Support and Rehabilitation Program, WRSC held a workshop entitled “Determining the Needs and Priorities of Working Children” in the presence ofthe boardChairman of Directors Dr. Naim Al-Ghalban, WRSC counsellorDr. Kamal Abu-Qamar and a representative of Islamic Relief, as well as working children and their mothers..

Professor Ibrahim Altoum, the coordinator of the program of support and rehabilitation of women, presented the experience of the Association over the past years in its targeting of the category of north, east and west of Gaza, pointing out the importance of determining the needs for the advancement of our children for their care and protection..

As for Dr. Naeem Al-Ghalban, he emphasized the need for taking in considerationthe category of working children as a priority, furthermore, to workin order to meet their needs in the sake of promoting them in the community and protect them from homelessness, calling on parents to take care of their children and not to waste their future by .putting them in the streets to work

It is worth mentioning that WRSC is about to invite official institutions to conduct workshops to exchange experiences and knowledge about the nature of the intervention necessary to set the priorities of those working children for 2018.
