El-Wedad Society implements a conference entitled “The Role of International and Local Institutions in Supporting Youth Priorities and Issues

El- Wedad Society For Community Rehabilitation implemented a donor conference entitled “The Role of International and Local Institutions in Supporting Youth Priorities and Issues” at Almathaf Hotel. It was part of ” Providing a Safe Environment for Youth in the Gaza Strip” project funded by the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF)  with the participation of several representatives of  International  institutions, community, and project members.

Dr. Naeem Al-Ghalban, ” the chairman of the association” said, “The project aims at activating the role of youth in the society and looking for the foundations and needs that require funds,”. Also, he indicated that by that the Palestinian youth will be closer to a better reality.

He added that the youth are the key to the development and without them the national path will not move towards development and positive change. In his turn, prof. HossamJouda, the director of the development program in the Islamic Relief, said that there are not enough institutions to support the youth issues. In addition, he asserted that there is not enough community institutions to activate the youth and help them to play their rolesand saying: “We wish that the youth will have the right to work.

     

El-Wedad Society launches the second Youth Pioneers Camp

         El-Wedad Society for Community Rehabilitation launched the second youth camp in the presence of the project’s members who are almost 300 young men and women from various areas of the Gaza Strip as part of the project entitled: “Providing a Safe Environment for Youth in the Gaza Strip”, funded by the United Nations Democracy Fund.

        It is scheduled that El-Wedad Association  will hold a conference on “The Role of International and local Institutions in Supporting Youth Priorities and Issues” at 11: 00 AM within the activities of the second youth camp

WSCR Holds a Workshop on “Determining the Needs and Priorities of Working Children”

Within the framework of the Women and Children’s Support and Rehabilitation Program, WRSC held a workshop entitled “Determining the Needs and Priorities of Working Children” in the presence ofthe boardChairman of Directors Dr. Naim Al-Ghalban, WRSC counsellorDr. Kamal Abu-Qamar and a representative of Islamic Relief, as well as working children and their mothers..

Professor Ibrahim Altoum, the coordinator of the program of support and rehabilitation of women, presented the experience of the Association over the past years in its targeting of the category of north, east and west of Gaza, pointing out the importance of determining the needs for the advancement of our children for their care and protection..

As for Dr. Naeem Al-Ghalban, he emphasized the need for taking in considerationthe category of working children as a priority, furthermore, to workin order to meet their needs in the sake of promoting them in the community and protect them from homelessness, calling on parents to take care of their children and not to waste their future by .putting them in the streets to work

It is worth mentioning that WRSC is about to invite official institutions to conduct workshops to exchange experiences and knowledge about the nature of the intervention necessary to set the priorities of those working children for 2018.

El-Wedad Society and the Arab College sign a joint memorandum of understanding

El-Wedad Society for Community Rehabilitation signed a memorandum of understanding with the Arab College for Applied Sciences to implement an initiative on forming a student body within the college campus. This activity comes within the activities related to the “Providing a Safe Environment for Youth in The Gaza Strip” project funded by the United Nations Democracy Fund.

The agreement includes training to the students on decisions making within the university, as well as building an .administrative body to form the initiative idea

The students welcomed the initiative confirming that it linked between the students and the university administration and helped in lifting the barriers between them and knowing the administrative body ‘s way of thinking within the university. Also, they expressed their happiness to form an administrative body bearing the concerns of students.

Mr. Saeed Rajab, who is the leader of the initiative, stressed that it aims at building bridges of cooperation between the students and the educational institution in order to raise awareness among students about how to deal with the university administration and to create a sense of collaboration between the students and the administrative body.

It is worth mentioning that El-Wedad Society, through the Youth Club, organizes several initiatives to raise awareness in the Palestinian society in the Gaza Strip.
